Born, raised and educated in Haverhill, son of the late John and Irene (Boulanger) Connolly, he was a member of the Haverhill High School Class of 1957 and was a lifelong resident of the city. He later attended East Coast Aero Tech.
Mr. Connolly worked for many years as a mechanic for Northeast Airlines and later in the airfreight department of Delta Airlines until his retirement. Most recently, he was employed as a driver for Leith Flower Shop of Plaistow, NH and formerly of Haverhill.
A member of All Saints Parish and the former Saint Joseph Parish, he enjoyed camping at Ossipee Lake in New Hampshire and spending time tinkering in his garage.
Survivors include his wife of forty-nine years, Brenda (Robinson) Connolly, three sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert J. Connolly, Jr. of Haverhill, Patrick J. and Sharon Connolly of Cape Elizabeth, ME, and Eric J. Connolly of Haverhill, three grandchildren, Ryan P. Connolly, Brendan W, Connolly and Ian R. Connolly, all of Cape Elizabeth, a brother in law and his wife, Norman and Janet Robinson of Plaistow a sister-in-law and her husband Ginger and Robert Demers of Seabrook, NH, one aunt, one uncle and several cousins. He was predeceased by a son Steven J. Connolly in 1985.
